Standard UCAT Registration Fee

The standard registration fee for UCAT ANZ 2026 is $325 AUD (including GST). This fee covers your test booking at a Pearson VUE test centre within Australia or New Zealand during the July–August testing window. Payment is made online at the time of booking using a credit or debit card.

Registration opens on 3 March 2026 and the standard booking deadline is 15 May 2026 at 11:59pm AEST. Booking within this window secures the standard fee and gives you the widest choice of available test dates and locations.

Late Booking and Additional Fees

If you miss the standard deadline, you can still register during the late booking period (16 May to 29 May 2026) for an additional $85 AUD late fee, bringing the total to $410 AUD. A final late booking window runs until 5 June 2026 with an extra fee of $185 AUD, meaning total registration could cost up to $510 AUD if you book at the last minute.

There is no fee for requesting standard access arrangements (such as extra time for documented disabilities), but you must apply before the access arrangements deadline of 15 May 2026. Late access arrangement applications close on 29 May 2026.

Rescheduling your test date after booking may incur a fee depending on how close to the test date you reschedule. The cancellation deadline for a full refund is 12 June 2026 at 11:59pm AEST. After this date, your registration fee is non-refundable.

Bursary and Financial Assistance

Pearson VUE offers a bursary scheme for candidates who would otherwise be unable to afford the registration fee. The bursary covers the full cost of registration. Eligibility is typically based on financial hardship, and you will need to provide supporting documentation during the application process.

To apply for a UCAT bursary, visit the official UCAT ANZ website and follow the bursary application instructions. Applications open at the same time as general registration and should be submitted well before the standard deadline to ensure processing time.

Total Cost of UCAT Preparation

Beyond the registration fee, most students invest in preparation materials. Free resources — including the official UCAT practice tests and free question banks — can form a solid foundation at zero cost. Paid preparation platforms like UCATReady offer access to thousands of practice questions with step-by-step walkthroughs for $29.99 per week or $495 per year.

Private tutoring typically costs between $80 and $200 per hour, while intensive UCAT preparation courses from providers like MedEntry, Fraser's, or MedStart range from $400 to $2,500 depending on the package. The right investment depends on your starting level and how much structured guidance you need.

For most students, the total cost of UCAT preparation falls between $325 (exam only, using free resources) and $1,500 to $2,000 (exam fee plus a comprehensive preparation course). Given that medicine is a career investment, this is a relatively small outlay for a significant opportunity.
